Carles Gomez

Carles Gomez Montenegro received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 2002 and 2007, respectively, both advised by Prof. Josep Paradells. He is a Full Professor at the same university. He is Academic Director and founder (jointly with Prof. Paradells) of the Master en Internet of Things at UPC School. Since 2002, he has carried out his teaching activity mainly at EETAC, but also at EPSEVG and ETSETB. He is a member of the Wireless Networks Group within the Network Engineering Department. He has worked in several publicly and privately funded research projects, and is (co)author of technical contributions published in journals, conferences, books and IETF standards. His research interests focus primarily on the Internet of Things. He has also worked on IP-based communication performance over cellular networks, mesh networks, ad-hoc networks and sensor networks. He is a chair of the IETF 6Lo working group. He is an editorial board member of the Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments (JAISE), Sensors, and Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing (WCMC). He has been a visiting scholar at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Cambridge, under the supervision of Prof. Jon Crowcroft. He has also been a visiting researcher at Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), collaborating with the NETSERV research group . He has been included in the list of the World's top 2% of scientists from the Stanford University.
